Hello and Welcome to The Last Gate! Below is a short history of the forum and what we stand for as a community of artists. The Last Gate forum was founded at the end of December, beginning of January of the year 2006. It was first hosted by Salem, aka Brandon on his domain, muse-on-vacation. net, however, unexpectedly real life situations got in the way and Brandon was unable to keep his domain and the forum disappeared along with his gorgeous site. We frantically tried to look for a new host for the forum since we were not able to give our members prior notice before his domain disappeared. Andavri, aka Steph offered to host the forum for us on her site, blackbirdslullaby.com but upon installing the forum and trying to get everything back up we discovered that something about the forum was conflicting with her host. A week or so later, Tropicallili, aka Juleah, finally decided it was time for her to move from her free host at the now dead freespaces, and buy her own domain and hosting plan, thus theworldofpurple.net was born, and we were all able to establish a new and permanent home for The Last Gate forum. About a year or more into having the forum at theworldofpurple.net, SMF (Simple Machines Forum) the forum software we use was providing an upgrade and we decided to take the opportunity to update, as well as, reface and bring new and fresh changes to the forum. Installing the update was tricky because we had to do a fresh install of the forum, meaning that people had to re-register. It was a mess, but somehow we pulled through it and got the forum up and running again. The Last Gate has a lot of history, and we’ve been through many ups and downs but we somehow manage to make things work. We are a group devoted to making a place for people to share their work, to communicate with one another and to grow as a thoughtful, kind, and caring community of artists. We believe that everyone has a voice and that it should be heard, no matter how small the message. We believe that in order to grow as both persons and artists we must help to teach, encourage, and create a positive atmosphere, not just for one person or a small group of people, but for everyone.
